Kolibri is everything a person should want in a high-end cocktail bar. I spent nine nights in Ljubljana and had drinks at K for eight of those nights. (They're closed on Mondays, damnit.) Yes, that clearly says something about my appetite for cocktails but it says far more about Kolibri. Anže is K's bartending fixture. He is a superb mixologist technically and creatively. Beyond that, he is a wonderful fellow: amusing, informed, open-minded, conversational. Likewise, you are highly likely to meet great folks from all over at K. Over the course of a week, I had interesting and amusing conversations about theology, design, business, politics, art, law, biochemistry, and, of course, Slovenia. Similarly, the decor is pure speakeasy: intimate, comfortable, understated. As is the fine jazz music from the speakers. In short: great drinks and a great vibe. Be prepared to spend some money.
