El hotel es muy pintoresco y está en un barrio muy animado. Tienen un pequeño problema con los ruidos que hacen sus huéspedes más jóvenes porque no deja de ser un youth hostel

REVIEW AFTER SCHOOLTRIP WITH 45 STUDENTS (MIDDLESCHOOL) Sono un docente che è stato in gita a Lubiana con due classi di scuola media: 45 allievi da gestire. L'ostello si è rivelato sotto le aspettative per vari motivi, pur avendo molti lati positivi. Iniziamo coi lati positivi: - Molto suggestivo il concept delle camere in una ex prigione: arredamento curato. -Colazione e cena a buffet molto abbondanti e di qualità -Il cuoco è fantastico! Lati negativi, per cui non consiglierei di andarci con una scuola: -Dopo mesi di email per preparare tutto, alle 8 del mattino mi viene detto che è stato dimenticato il pranzo al sacco per tutti. A quel punto, siamo lo stesso partiti per Bled ma siamo dovuti tornare per le 13 in modo da farci dare il pranzo al sacco. Conclusione: visita a Bled di fretta, impossibilità di mangiare il panino in riva al laghetto e soprattutto, una volta tornati in ostello, il pranzo era un misero toast con una merendina e una mela. Gli studenti avevano ancora fame! Il secondo giorno non dimenticano il pranzo al sacco (ci mancherebbe!) ma è lo stesso toast del giorno prima! -La zona è molto, molto rumorosa, durante tutta la notte. -La sera, al ritorno da una passeggiata serale per mangiare il gelato, c'è stata una rissa molto violenta davanti all'ostello: molti studenti (14enni) sono rimasti segnati dalla cosa. Non è colpa dell'ostello, ma a saperlo prima non l'avrei scelto come luogo in cui soggiornare coi ragazzi. -In generale non sembravano abituati a gestire gruppi così grandi di adolescenti. Per esempio ci hanno chiesto di cenare alle 18 perchè qualche ora dopo ci sarebbe stato un concerto organizzato nell'ostello, in cui tutti avrebbero dovuto fare silenzio (45 adolescenti in gita il primo giorno...in silenzio!?). --------- Consiglierei invece l'ostello ai giovani back-packer, agli adulti senza bambini a cui non da fastidio la night life.

The hostel had good communication and were able to fix my issue on the phone prior to me arriving a few weeks before with a double booking. Upon arriving, I was told I couldn't get into my room until 3pm and so I left my luggage there in their secure room. When I returned I got checked in by 2 friendly staff and got everything set up.|| I had a room for myself which was nice. The halls were clean and my room was as well. Not a lot of room as the only one I could get was a 3 bed private one. It had 1 bunk bed and the 3rd bed was way up in the loft and I can't imagine how that would be climbing up there and down in the middle of the night without injury.||Bathrooms were clean, though people did tend to leave shampoo and soap in the showers, which isn't all that unusual for a hostel with shared bathrooms.|| The property has games you can play in any of the sitting areas or cafe. The cafe has beer and pizza you can order as well as a few other things I think. In the basement are older stone cells which is interesting and there are some fun sitting room areas for people as well as an outside patio that I saw.|| Cool experience, room was pretty warm and this was in May, couldn't get the thermostat to really do much though, but never bothered to mention it. Staffed 24 hours so easy to check out early in the morning. || The area around it Metelkova has a lot of interesting art and at night bars there which is fun. In the day time and when the bars aren't open though, it can be pretty sketcy and there are signs posted around the area warning about drug use and not to encourage them by buying drugs there. Seemed to be the most sketchy in the daytime actually as when the bars open, it's pretty busy with the bar crowds like me.|| Sleepwise was the only big downfall. The noise from upstairs in the communal sleeping area was loud and depsite the quiet times mentioned at the hotel, people were up and very loud until 2-3am and you could hear everything, entire conversations, laughing, partying and so on. Don't know how anyone could sleep up there let alone in the single rooms without ear plugs.|| All in all a fun one night experience...

||We had a really bad experience. We stayed for one night, and there was a group of high school teenagers staying on the same floor as us. They were REALLY loud, banging doors, running in the corridor, screaming in the night, the afternoon, the morning. We stay in hostels to meet other travelers and the average age was like 15. They told us at the front desk that they were often groups staying at the hostel (??) We could barely sleep because of the noise. The walls are paper thin which is kind of what you expect staying in hostels, but this time the noise was beyond measure, even with earplugs. Also, the website says there is air conditionning in the rooms, but they should precise that it’s working only when they want it to (summer I guess). But even though it’s not technically summer, at the end of May, it was 30degrees outside, and the thermostat indicated 35 in our room. It was a sauna. Plus, the bed is at the top of the room (for the cells), so of course it only gets hotter as you go up. We paid 80 euros for a room where we could barely sleep and they did not offer any kind of compensation. ||The only reasons I gave two stars were for the two really nice receptionnists at the front desk yesterday night (may 30th) and this morning (may 31st). Shared bathroom is clean and well-amenaged. Breakfast was good also, you have severeal choices. ||I am not really the type to complain, but this was just disappointing. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend and I would definitely stay elsewhere if I’m ever back in Ljubljana.

Stayed here in room 207 for 4 nights.||||Check in was quick and efficient as I had already booked and filled in my information online. The staff let me know about the setup and then gave me instructions to my dorm. My room was on the second floor and there's no lift. If you're not comfortable with stairs, then this place is going to be a problem.||||The dorm had four beds and a private ensuite. Two of the beds were bunk beds and there were two other singles. The door into the dorm has glass panels, which let light in. One of the singles faces the door and the hall lights come on automatically. Unfortunately, this was my bed. I hardly slept that first night, but the staff were kind enough to let me change beds.||||The dorm and bathroom were clean, and were cleaned everyday. The only weird part of the ensuite is that the hand basin is located outside of the bathroom. The upside is that you can use it even if someone is in the bathroom. There's also a hairdryer next to the sink. It works.||||Breakfast was included. Is fairly typical European fare with cheese slices, cold cuts, various types of cereals, juices and coffee. I thought it was about average by hostel standards. ||||Location wise, it's about 10 minutes walk into the centre. The building is located in the Metelkova area. It does look dangerous on the maps, but I found it quite safe. It's an alternative lifestyle area, so there's a lot of "smoking" going on.||||The hostel also has a bar, a laundry room and a mini kitchen on the second floor (no microwave). The whole building is actually pretty clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, I had a good stay. If I hadn't been allowed to change beds, it would've been miserable.

I spent five nights in hotel Celica in a 12 bed dorm. You need earplugs if you have light sleep. Hotel Celica is situated in the middle of Metalkova. The little but neat area is known for it’s arristic touch. You can find Ljubljana underground scene there. Because of 2-3 Clubs and a funky shabby little bar alternative people will get to their cost. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I even could ask them to give me personal advice since I had to find an Appartement after my stay. I would sit at the bar every night, drink a beer and have conversation with total strangers. Every Tuesday there is a free concert. I used the kitchen during my stay which is equipped an gets cleaned on a regular bases. The bathrooms are clean and get cleaned on a daily bases. Only critic: I am a student however and finances are a big thing for me. Hostel Celica is more on the expensive side with the 28€/night i spent on an off season (mid february) stay. My Reccomondation: Check out the double rooms. They are worth a shot. The Hausi is an old prison and they left the rooms (nicely designed) with a touch of the history.

I'm sorry to say but the hostel is located in a very problematic neighborhood: one can see drug users overall (friday at 7 PM) and the buildings around are full of graffiti. Although there is a parking barrier it's the same as to park your car in the street. I was asked for money by a drug user in front of the hotel door, which does not stay open (I guess for securities reasons). Unless you want this environment (use drugs, for instance) I wouldn't recommend to go or to bring your family there!

A visit to Ljubjana would not be the same without spending at least one night staying in an actual prison cell.||Our one was cell 110, the Slovenian Cell comes with wireless Internet access, twin beds, free bed linen and towels, actual prison bars and you have to use communal bathroom facilities end of corridor. ||They have Self-service breakfast buffet, this is available to all guests and open to visitors. It had local and fresh ingredients daily and opens 7.30 -10.30||Available to hostel guests and other visitors. This hostel also has few cafes inside and out or common rooms as you could call them serving hot and cold food, alcoholic and soft drink beverages.||If you fancy a night away somewhere different, you fancy locking yourself away in prison then this is the place, it's a once in a lifetime thing to do. | ||
