To start, the location of the hotel was amazing. It was in the center of the city and a four-minute walk away from the old town. Our rooms were big and spacious, plus the bed sheets and towels were very clean and all the members of the staff, although very few, were very kind. That was the good part.
One thing that we noticed right as we came, was that the corridors were extremely cold (we came in winter). The elevator was only capable of holding four people at a time, which was very stressing, as we were a big group. The tiles were either broken or not glued.
In one of our rooms there was a big wooden block on the floor that had no purpose but tripping people in the middle of the night. The rooms smelled like sewage so that wasn’t very great. Due to the absurd architectural planning of the rooms, we had to bend down to get to one side of the bed, but at least it was a fun game of limbo.
To be honest, I don’t understand how this hotel could have four stars. I probably won’t be returning.

Rooms are a little worn, but the building is 400 years old, so that’s to be expected! Fun place to stay and in a great location. Staff were very helpful, and the breakfast was good, too!

Beautiful room right in the city centre in a quiet side street 1 block from the river.. Delicious fresh breakfast and kind staff prepared a side salad without mozzarella for dairy free option. No decaf coffee though, no aircon, we got mozzie bites from open windows at night. Ancient night ceilings with historic paintwork preserved. The place is a labyrinth of corridors and staircases in varying states of repair, gardens are a little neglected and could be so much more. Reception staff are super nice and helped with free tour times and extra sheets (too hot for duvet)

I was pretty disappointed by this hotel.
Pros:
-Front desk people were nice, and let me check in early
-Excellent location
Cons:
-The website specifically says all rooms have air conditioning. This was a lie and there was not even a fan to use. I need AC for medical reasons and this was the main reason I chose the hotel. Due to the absence of AC I slept very poorly and received several insect bites because the windows were open all night. I added a screenshot as proof of the false advertising.
-Since the veranda is outside the windows of the room, you have 0 security if the window is opened.
-There are not enough curtains to cover all the windows. This is a big deal because of the building courtyard and veranda.
-The shower was very run down and uncomfortable. Water drained slowly and the doors would not close all the way. The shower would've been nice 25 years ago, but now it is falling apart and smells like mold/mildew.
-The bedding and towels was freshly washed, but still had lingering cigarette odor from prior guests and/or the hands of the housekeeping staff. I did not feel clean after using the towels provided.

My fiancé inquired about room rates via email, asking if they could make a deal that we could offer to our wedding guests. On Booking we could book the rooms for €140 per night. They replied to my fiancé’s email that we could rent their rooms for…€220 per night! When we asked why they would charge us so much more for the exact same rooms and the exact same dates, they never replied.

Enormous rooms, extremely comfortable beds and warm comfy duvet. Hot strong shower- new towels a bit challenging to get dry with but not a significant problem. Amazing central location and friendly, helpful staff. Our second visit.

I see on TripAdvisor that this hotel is now closed until April. I hope it is closed for renovations. It is very tired and threadbare. My towels literally had holes in them. It was not particularly clean (cobwebs in chandelier, spare pillow in closet was too filthy to use). Since I was traveling from the US I didn't bring a lot of liquids with me, assuming there would be body lotion in the room. No. The breakfast was very sparse. The people, however, were very nice. And when I asked for something they immediately provided it. The location is fantastic, so I hope that they renovate!

Two only pillows, mould on tiles and all over the cheap shower curtain which was inadequate in size for the shower over the bath. Torn bed sheet and bath mat. Got in very late so moving hotels was not an option otherwise we would have left, albeit we prepaid.

I was part of a small tour group. Check in was room assignments were done quickly and effectively. The property is historic, meaning, the hotel probably had its hay-day, say 70 years ago, but now what remains is a quirky collection of rooms in building wings with different architectural styles. My room was a modern-decorated studio apartment, which was large for a hotel room; others in my tour received standard sized rooms. Location is excellent and breakfast proficiently satisfying.

I have a very bad experience with this hotel in general.
The concept of the hotel is interesting, while you are in the lobby everything seems old-fashionedly beautiful, the fairy tale ends when you enter the room of this 4 star "luxury hotel" in the heart of Ljubljana. At that moment, you realize that you will be smelling the stench of a medieval sewer for all 4 nights, to the point where you are forced to sleep with the window open when it is 10 degrees at night.
Even before all this, I slept with the curtains open for two days, because their cheap design is not meant to cover the windows. To give you an idea, the shower room was in front of a huge window that looked out on dozens of other apartments in the block.
Maybe it was my mistake, but I didn't realize that the blinds were hidden in the inside of the window. But they are so cleverly hidden that even 2 staff members did not know they existed. One of them came with a sheet to cover the windows. Yes, a 4 star hotel.
Showers. The concept of the hotel is old, and from that old - once a super modern shower, the door of which fell out and I could not close the door.
Yes, I asked to change my room, 2 times, and was refused because there was no room. I was in a situation where it was one of the 2 options for the last available hotels in the city, and I had come for work those days. I had no time for relocation or quarrels.
Before all this, people were coming and going at night, which is normal. But it's not normal that when a neighbor closes his door, your door shakes so much that you wake up at 00:00.
Breakfast was also a circus. Only toast and a boiled egg were warm. You couldn't make your own coffee, you had to wait for someone to make you coffee, someone who made it seems like there were 3 things to do and didn't have time for anything. Breakfast starts at 8, at that time you have to wait for the plates, because not everything was taken out. For those who have to be at a meeting somewhere outside the city at 9, it is very inconvenient and stressful
The only plus was a gentleman who called me a taxi every morning. The only normal service for the whole time in this hotel.
Honestly, I think this hotel has big problems in general. I don't understand how it can have 4 stars. Maybe the inspectors were only in the corridor.
And for all this I paid 500 euros for 4 nights. Never again and I don't advise you if you want even the slightest comfort.
I am attaching photos, unfortunately the smell cannot be photographed.

We wish we had paid more attention to the reviews before booking the Antiq Palace. Our room wasn't made up and the tea/coffee station was not replenished before we took the room on. Reception told us that due to a bit of a panic by the cleaning company over covid, rooms were only serviced at the specific request of the guest! We were not told this and anyway, are covid restrictions not a thing of the past? The silicone around the bath showed signs of mould as did the grout in the tiles in the shower. The toilet bowl looked like it had not been cleaned. There was no soap in the dispensers. Staff eventually left bars of hand soap and tiny bottles of shower gel. The tap dripped, as did the bidet. The plug in the sink doesn't stay in place had we wanted to fill the sink. The shower head in the main shower was pretty useless. Blinds on the window were broken or didn't work properly. There was 3 hangers in the wardrobe. There was a huge TV on a sideboard - the screen had a distracting crackly fault line right across the screen. Having said all of this, the staff at reception were very nice and very helpful.

This hotel is very well located and the inside courtyard is quite nice. We were however a bit disappointed with our stay there. We had booked a room with a king bed and the bed we got was a small double (140cm) with a poor mattress. There are no window blinds so expect to be woken up by sunrise. We wanted to do laundry like advertised on their website but they didn’t have the service. Same thing for the spa there is no spa there.

The hotell is in a great location, Ljubljana is loveley. It says on the website that all rooms should have AC. Our business double room did not have AC. It is also stated that it is a spa-hotell but the spa is closed beacause of COVID (in 2023?). Our bathroom had no trashcan in the bathroom even though you are supposed to dry your hands with paper towels. The TV schedule in the room shows lots of channels for the TV but almost all channels are scrambled and unwatchable. All in all, the stay was OK but the hotell is "oversold" as a 4 star luxury hotell. Staff is however superfriendly and helpful! If expectations are lowered, the hotell is ok!
