This is like a grand old dame……parts notably bathrooms and balconies looking their age but lovely staff and the position is one of best in Lake Bled……stunning view from balcony and hotel right on lake with nice swimming platform and own rowing boats for use of guests. Good breakfast ….cant comment on dinner as we ate out whilst there but hotel gave excellent recommendations . Lake bled such a beautiful place……

Oggi ci siamo recati al ristorante dell'albergo per assaporare una fetta del tipico dolce di Bled. Ci siamo seduti e abbiamo atteso 20 minuti prima che il cameriere venisse a chiederci cosa volessimo. Ci ha così assicurato che ci avrebbe portato tutto nel giro di 5 minuti. Dopo almeno altri 20 minuti è tornato dicendoci di non averne più. Dolce finito! Dopo aver atteso invano per tre quarti d'ora, con il parchimetro in scadenza e l'ansia di prendere una multa. Servizio pessimo!

The location of this hotel is unbeatable, right on the lake (but you need to get a lake view otherwise you will overlook the road!) but not worth the price overall sadly. The rooms are very small and not sound proof, drafts under the doors, bathroom is dated and shower/bath very small, service slow and pool is cold. The breakfast is good (buffet and a la carte) and views are amazing. The outdoor lido for swimming and taking boats out was closed due to a tiny bit of rain.

We were not staying in this hotel, but 2024 09 16 I felt down on the steps near it going up from lake. And as I understand guy from reception, who saw me crying with blooded knee and deep wound, quickly brought a bandage, disinfectant, treated and bandaged the leg, typed clinic address in navigator. And in clinic doctor asked who did that so professionaly and that helped me from infection. I was shocked and didn't asked his name, but I am very very grateful and want to say thank You from heart!

The hotel is undoubtedly the best location on the lake with absolutely stunning views. We got lucky with parking right outside the hotel for €10 per day and check in was seamless. The room and hotel were dated as expected but some of this adds to its charm. It was like walking into the 1920s. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable. 2 singles pushed together and both creaked every time we moved - hopefully the upcoming renovations will address issues like this. |We took advantage of the free rowing boat hire and the staff member was kind enough to allow us 90 minutes instead of 60 which was perfect to row around the island and back at a reasonable pace (a must do when in Bled!) The sunbathing deck and roped area for swimming was also lovely. Breakfast was very good with a huge selection to choose from. |There were a few minor things in addition to the uncomfortable bed which let the overall experience down a little. We went to the spa and tried to check in as advised by the signs but there was nobody at the reception. I nipped to the bar next door and the bar lady was particularly unhelpful and just said “someone would come” (they didn’t). We found our own towels and went in anyway - the pool was absolutely freezing! I know it’s supposed to be natural and rejuvenating but it certainly wasn’t relaxing - the lake was a much nicer temperature and I would recommend that instead for swimming. In the lounge / bar, there only seemed to be 1 young guy taking care of guests in these areas - we had to go looking for him more than once to be served. |The minor issues weren’t enough to put us off revisiting or recommending it, mostly for the location, but there are a few improvements to be made before this could truly be considered 5*

I had a single room. It was comfortable, quaint, clean and the price was right. I loved the dock access to swim and borrow a boat. Breakfast was good and included. We stayed three nights to see Bled, Soca Valley and Vintgar Gorge. I did not find this hotel to be run down.

Just about the only things five star about this hotel are the price and the view. Oh,and in fairness, the breakfast. |The rooms are decidedly 3 star. So small you can just about get around the, good, bed. Tired bathroom. The late autocrat Tito might have liked the decor. But he is dead and it is heading that way.|In fairness, we understood from the very friendly staff that the premises are due to be wholly revamped. So perhaps wait to read reviews written after it has closed and reopened, and file the old ones. |If you go before then, and after, make sure that you get a lakeside room with a terrace. You will want to spend your time there with the view of the castle bang opposite rather than in the room. Unless it is too hot. The air con in the room is good. That option will cost you an astonishing 40€ extra a night.

I had a lovely 5 day stay here in a room with lakeside view. The location and views are amazing which was incredible and made the whole trip. The hotel was out dated and old fashioned as others have said but generally it came off as charming rather than run down - sadly though a few bits around the room did need replacing or repairing. The staff were generally very good, welcoming and helpful. A few staff members were outstandingly pleasant but many didn’t seem to want to be there. Room cleaning wasn’t very consistent. I was very pleased to see they offered an a la cart breakfast options but getting served wasn’t easy at busy times, fortunately the buffet offering was good so no need to wait if you don’t want to. Generally the room was comfortable but the pillows were terrible and they charged extra if you wanted different pillows which is really rubbish. The tea and coffee facilities were very basic and the mini bar was very extortionate, as was the main bar. Fortunately there is a cheap shop over the road, I got my own coffee from there. The pool and sauna facilities were very good and amazingly quiet at all times of day. I do recommend staying here for the view, location and spa area, if you are happy with some other elements being more basic.

Beautifully located with charming staff. Clean and efficient. However, only the late communist autocrat Tito would rate it as five star. Tiny rooms but with a good balcony and, if on the lake side, a great view. If you temper your expectations you will enjoy your stay.

My fiance and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Toplice for a week, and we were very pleased with our choice. I have to say, given that it was 4.4 stars average on Google (which suggests it was good rather than great), I was very pleasantly surprised. Particulars points to note: (1) Location: Right on Lake Bled, the balcony views of the lake, island, and castle are excellent. The Hotel has its own private swimming area, waterfront, and boat hire, all of which we made use of. The lake and its surrounds are beautiful. (2) Staff: All staff had very good English and almost-universally were extremely helpful and friendly. They were a real highlight and helped make this a five-star experience. (3) Rooms: The rooms were very good. There's a few comments on the theme of it being a bit of a 'faded glory' Grand Hotel, but I think that's unfair. Some of the decor is a bit dated, but it's not shabby or distasteful. It has a feel of 'slightly-old-fashioned luxury'. I remember we said to each other that the place felt like the sort of place that Tito might have gone to on holiday (though apparently his old villa is actually few minutes walk away!). The air conditioning in the room was first-rate which proved necessary given the heat. (4) Food: We opted for half-board (breakfast and dinner). The breakfast buffet was sumptuous and a very good mix of traditional hotel breakfast food and some local favourites, with abundant fruit. The dinners were decent but not exceptional, with more than bit of repetition in the offerings. Given the price, it was impressive what the hotel was able to do, but- if we were doing it again- I think we wouldn't do a week of hotel dinners. (5) Value for money: Really excellent. I'm amazed it was such good value.

I am not sure words can do justice to my stay at this incredible hotel. My husband and I went away for 3 nights and had the suite overlooking the lake. Every minute was a pinch me moment! The suite was beautiful, and the balcony view to Bled Castle, Bled Island and the surrounding mountains was so utterly heavenly, I didn’t even want to leave my room! My husband and I are convinced heaven must look like that view! |The staff were just incredible too. We loved them all! They were so friendly and personable, making a point of getting to know us and making us feel welcome on a personal level. They helped us efficiently organise activities, from paragliding to zip lining. The private lido is exceptional - the best way to enjoy the lake in the hot weather. The spa was also wonderful, and the opportunity to relax in an almost private spa experience added to our exceptional time.|When we left I cried as we hugged the reception staff members goodbye. It was the best place I have ever been to. I will be back here for as long as I can travel. From me and my husband, thank you for the time of our lives!

Lovely hotel... ageing charm in an amazing location. Definitely worth paying extra for a balcony to look over the lake. Worth a night in the restaurant with the superb chef. Lovely staff.

My trip to Lake Bled was made much more incredible because of this hotel! I wanted to splurge a little when in Bled because I wanted a hotel right on the lake so that I could be close to everything. When I arrived at the hotel I was surprised with a free upgrade to a suite with a view of the lake and this was one of the best views I have had in all of my years of traveling. The food at the hotel is great, you have a private piece of the lake that can only by accessed by the hotel, a Michelin restaurant on the property, an indoor pool and a spa. The only downside is that the rooms are a bit run down but the view is still worth it! I would recommend this hotel if you want an amazing view!

Stayed at Toplice this week and it was an absolute dream. The view to the castle is incredible and the room was beautiful. The staff were accommodating with making reservations and were very friendly. I will definitely return to stay.
