We stated in a too floor premium suite. While many reviews say the hotel is dated and tired whuch is very true this does not explain the lack of cleanliness and maintenance. The curtains were threadbare as were the carpets. The walls and carpet were badly stained. The dirt between the carpet and wall was vomit worthy. This is the worst 5 star hotel we have ever stayed at. Management should be ashamed.

The location is amazing, and access to the private “beach” is really appreciated. These are the only positives of the hotel. The experience is far from being a 5 stars. The rooms are from 40 years ago, but not maintained at all. Everything is decrepit and old. Bathroom and toilets are leaking, the wallpaper is falling apart. Service wise, we encountered 1 nice receptionist but all the others were unkind, condescending. Impossible to get a jug of water during breakfast or drinks. Need to wait 2hours for our luggages to reach our room, and no helped proposed on the exit, only to the celebrities.

It’s a big old grand hotel (more on this below) with an incredible outlook on to lake Bled, you can’t fault it for its location and the view. I’ll start with the positives as it is a lovely hotel, the staff are nice and the sun bed area by the lake is the main draw for us staying there, it’s the best place to relax on Lake Bled and jump in the water. Our room included one hour hire of the rowing boat which was great. We had half board so breakfast and dinner were included. The food was good for the price and service was also good. The only negative is if sitting inside in the evening is too bright, they have all the lights on and it feels a bit like a retirement home. Also, although the hotel was fully booked, the bar was dead at night, there is no atmosphere. As mentioned, it is an old grand hotel so the decor is aligned to that, which is fine. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is in need of updating. There is no problem with the decor staying old-world but that is no excuse for not renewing things. The main issue we had was with the bed mattress, it was very old, soft and lumpy. It seemed like many of the springs were broken and I did not sleep well, by the end of the 3 nights stay my back was very achy. Our friends in another room had a similar experience. These really need replacing. The pillows in the room were also old and lumpy. There is a pillow menu, as is standard at many hotels, however they charge you to ‘rent’ the pillows (€5 for 3 nights I think) which seems really odd and stingy for an upmarket hotel, this should be free. I’d only stay again if I knew they had replaced their mattresses and pillows.

Das Personal war unglaublich zuvorkommend, der Strand ein Traum, das Frühstück war auch sehr gut. Aber leider entsprach unser Zimmer absolut nicht dem, was man von einem 5 Sterne Haus erwartet: es war dunkel, klein, veraltet, der Balkon ohneSitzmöglichkeit ging auf die stark befahrene Straße, daher auch keine Aussicht…|Der Pool sehr erfrischend und die Saunen klein, aber fein. Sollte das Wetter schlecht sein, wird es dort sicher sehr eng werden.

Superb Grand Hotel rich in history! Had a very nice experience overall, the staff around the hotel were all very professional and extremely friendly. The facilities were nice including the SPA. Rooms were renovated and comfortable. The Persian rugs around the hotel looked stunning, giving a nice warm feeling to the visitors. Would definitely come back here.

Grand Hotel Toplice is a 90-year-old beauty of undeniable charm and noble beauty.|From reception at the front desk, through breakfast, to staying on the hotel beach, the entire staff will do everything in their power to make you feel comfortable and rested.|The main advantages of the hotel are its magical location and unique view, as well as access to a private terrace for sunbathing and swimming. |We only used breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the choice of dishes was commendable, with a wonderful view of the lake.|With the knowledge that the hotel will soon undergo renovation in the coming years, there is no need to look back at the minor flaws in the building that is almost a century old. ||It is the people who make a stay in such places a special experience, especially people like all the receptionists or Mr. Matej from Jezero Lounge and Mr. Tomaž from the management of Sava Hotel.||After three years spent on vacation at the Grand Hotel Toplice, I am looking forward to staying again in 2025.

Booked this hotel for 2 reasons - the only one on the lake and we love old grand hotels with some history. The hotel was originally built in 1850 and renovated into the current hotel in 1931, so c90 plus years old. Those reviewers complaining it is ‘old’ have clearly not done their research! We had a lake view room with lovely balcony and fantastic views. The hotel has lots of character and, in some places, faded grandeur (I wouldn’t describe this as ‘dated’) which we loved. Yes the rooms & bathrooms are a bit quirky and the ‘old brown stuff’ in the rooms as referred to by one reviewer is actually traditional, and in some cases, antique furniture. I much prefer a bit of faded grandeur and ‘shabby’ paintwork to a modern corporate style hotel that could be anywhere! We loved our stay here and hope that any planned refurb is sympathetic to the age, style and grandeur of this ‘old dame’ of grand European spa hotels. A gentle restoration is all that is needed along with a few modern touches by providing some nice toiletries in more eco friendly containers rather than tiny plastic sachets (there appeared to be a surplus of hair conditioner and not much else). Towels were plentiful, and the shower over the bath as hot and powerful. Breakfast was superb with a wide choice including the a la carte options (though we didn’t see these menus until our second day as not set out on every table). The indoor thermal spa pool looked wonderful but the water was icy cold. Loved the sun bed area and ability to swim in the lake which was wonderful. Receptionist (not sure of her name) was very helpful and recommended several excellent restaurants for dinner. We throughly enjoyed our relaxing stay in Bled and so glad we chose this lovely hotel, which represented good value for money, with the room rate reflecting the hotel as it is now.

Traveled with a toddler, arrived late at night service was exceptional. Rooms are big and spacious we reserved the lake view suite. High ceilings, working AC, appreciated the balcony so we could have drinks while our son slept. Beautiful view of the castle. We also got to see the Riki wellness center and it was a great time for my son, there are warm swimming pools and a slide. Grand hotel has natural therm waters but for a child a bit cold, but great for adults. Overall highly recommend and will def stay again.

Csodálatos helyen, valóban 5 csillagos szolgáltatás,nagyon kedves személyzettel. Az ételek kiválóak. A szobák felújitása időszerű lenne, de pl. az ágymatrac luxus kényelmet biztosít, és minden más is magas minőséget képvisel. A hotelhez tartozó strand is minőségi,kényelmes ágyakkal van felszerelve. Mindent összevetve ,nagyon elégedettek voltunk mindennel.Remélem lesz lehetőségünk visszatérni, nagyon jól éreztük magunkat.

We paid $130 to have a bag of our laundry washed at this hotel and it all got ruined. Two pieces came back with mysterious purple stains and the rest shrunk even-though I wrote on the bag with huge letters to please wash on COLD and I even translated it to Slovenian when the cleaning-lady took it.

The hotel is bit dated: furniture, carpets, wooden stuff in the room, bathroom they had their best time 25 years ago.|Breakfast has marvelous outdoor terras with view on the lake. Restaurant staff was a bit untrained (read as: not) and could be friendlier|Nevertheless the best hotel in Bled you can find, friendly reception,valet parking, and a priceless view with a magnificent outdoor seating by the lake best place on the whole lake. Bled itself is somewhat camping style so lots of young people and cheap tourist restaurants

The staff on reception were ever so helpful to us, with the parking, with ideas for where to go to eat, with when our pickups arrived for some of the activities we had booked - special shout out to them all. The hotel location is mind blowing, it takes the breath away when you stand in the room for the first time and gaze out over the lake.

This five star hotel has an air of faded grandeur and is almost shabby at times but turned out to be a wonderful place to stay in so many ways. The location is obviously perfect and the lake views magnificent. The rooms were modestly sized with old fashioned fittings in the bathroom but it all worked and was perfectly comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent alongside a range of options cooked to order. Service was exemplary throughout from parking the car to arranging an area next to the bar for the (turned out all English and no Spanish) guests that wanted to watch the Euros football final. A huge plus was the lakeside bathing area with sun loungers, roped off area to swim with fantastic views of Lake Bled, and easy/reasonably priced hire of boats, stand up paddle boards etc all right outside the hotel. We did not try the hotel restaurants (we found a gem of a restaurant in town that we went back to which I will review separately).
