Positive: Room was fairly clean and hotel was quiet Negative: Ad said that it had breakfast bar in morning and they did not. Had to pay for parking and was expensive since you had to pay everytime you left. Was charged an additional $175 for incidentals and nothing was charged to room.

Honestly not worth it. Booked this hotel for a business trip seeing the photos shown and knowing it was going to be hot really looked forward to the pool. Turns out the shown in the pictures is not a part of this establishment at all. Rooms were okay at best but the bathroom was severely outdated and didn't have any ventilation. Wouldn't recommend, only redeeming quality was friendly and staff

The Royal Sonesta in Houston was not ready for prime time. This was supposed to be my first visit to a Sonesta hotel in Texas. The lobby was beautiful with grand views from every window, but I would have done better going to a quality hotel and a brand that I trust. I hope that next year’s conference is not at this hotel. Let’s just say this was one of the worst experiences at a hotel I’ve had in a long time. I just came from the airport as I traveled all day to get to Houston for a conference. I reserved my room several months in advance so the level of disrespect of my time, room uncleanliness and poor service makes the experience even more heartbreaking for me. The room I received was across from the ice machine and appeared to be a staff hang out. The bed appeared as if someone had laid in it. The toilet had trash in it. The walls were covered in drip stains. The rug needed maintenance and dirty. And the couch had several unsightly stains. But I’m not a pretentious person and was very tired. I was just going to press through this bad experience and enjoy watching the Olympics uninterrupted, study in peace and have a great conference the next day. That feeling was short lived when I tried to turn on the television. It didn’t work properly…no picture. So I called the front desk and was told that maintenance was coming up. The maintenance worker came promptly, surmised the situation for a few minutes and left explaining that he would return. Mind you, I just got in and still needed to take a shower and get something to eat. He returned with another male, another tv and lots of equipment. They were having more difficulties and left again! Unreal!!! Why do I have to cower in the corner to wait for maintenance workers to finish in order for me to take a shower and eat because management didn’t have the common decency to check my room I reserved months ago?! I had enough of this dirty room and it’s issues. I finally had to advocate for my self, call the front desk again and drag my tired hungry self with all my belongings back to the lobby. The staff must be use to the complaints; no apology just a flat response. After getting to another room which wasn’t much better than the first, I wanted to order room service. I called and called but no one picked up the phone. I tried four times for dinner. I ended up ordering from Uber Eats, waiting in the lobby for PF Chang’s. (Very good by the way.). I tried another day and should have ordered from Uber Eats. The fruit plate was beautiful but the entree was just reheated and dry. I hope that next year’s conference is not with this hotel.

My husband booked the reservation through Expedia, so our thoughts was okay room is paid for. Upon checking out we check our account there was a surprised transaction from the hotel for over $300 something dollars apart from the $200 dollar deposit which is understandable. So then we are trying to leave the garage is BROKEN we kept having to call for assistance because the guest card does NOT work! This was just a horrible experience unfortunately NEVER AGAIN! We were not the only ones this happened too!

Everything was perfect! It was a short stay but they treated me like a King. Over night in town mini vaca and man was it relaxing. Plenty to do and see near there and plenty of good food! I feel like a new man!

Overall, Great experience. My room had some AC problems, staff came right away to assist, but it was a temporary fix. Besides that it was a comfortable stay.

As a current Sonesta employee, I was very disappointed. I travelled all the way from DFW to this location and was very tired from the drive & I wasn’t happy to find out the garage elevators weren’t working. I’m very understanding because I know how hotels are. After being tired and not wanting to go out and to grab food I thought I could give the bar/restaurant here a chance. Me and my fiancé got to the bar at 9pm and we waited there for about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us lol. There was a short woman with dark hair that asked if we were ordering food which we were, can we find a seat and she’ll come to us. So after we waited another 15 minutes the lady looked at us multiple times even walked past us and never helped us. We went up the bar again because maybe she just forgot, but the other guy with the long hair NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED us either. This honestly had us feel really embarrassed, so we decided to just leave because we were so hungry and couldn’t wait. When we walked out the same male with the long hair had stopped us near the main entrance and asked we wanted to still order which we declined and just said we were waiting long enough. The male bartender proceeded to go off on us saying “he’s the only bartender here & that he’s trying his best”. I’m not sure why he went off on us we weren’t even mad as we should’ve been. The rooms were good & everything else was great but this really just rubbed me the wrong way and ruined our night.

Paid $21 for 4 hrs of parking… absolutely ridiculous. If you have to charge that much, at least make sure your elevetors are working!!! You charge us full price for parking plus tax, with a broken elevator. Next time i will park at Riveroaks garage and pay rideshare for $7 roundtrip!

Positive: The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was all very kind including the waiters/waitresses. The hotel was very nice and clean. Negative: There was no room service for the hotel. There was nowhere to get reasonably priced drinks/snacks. Everything in the hotel was very expensive and lots of added fees for destination, parking, etc.

I traveled to this hotel for a conference. The staff was so nice and their hospitality was amazing. The rooms were very nice and I would come back. There are also a lot of attractions near by.
