No matter what, for citizens of Maribor this is still the main bridge and will be. So it's also called "Glavni most". There are bigger bridges with much more traffic, but this one is located in the right position. It's also the main bridge for pedestrians, although there are planes for "breaking it in two", the current one for motor traffic only and the additional structures for pedestrians. I very much liked one plan ore two, but god knows when this will happen, if ever... The short wiki pages don't do it justice! The bridge was finished in 1913. In the april of 1941 (this is the beginning of WW2 as seen by Slovenian / Yugoslavian people) the fleeing Yugoslav army destroyed the bridge to make it harder for Germans to make it into the heart of the country. But the germans rebuild it soon. Since then there have been many restorations and big maintainances....
