I love this museum! It might seem tiny but they are well planned. (Lockers, toilets, cafe). The permanent exhibtion offers compact history of the city with a lot of different media to enrich the experience. I especially like the music in the last room and the "tests" at the end. The temporary exhibition (from corset to jacket) is refreshing because it gives you a glimpse into history from a different perspective. Highly recommend!!

We started our stay in Ljubljana at this museum, and it was a brilliant way to learn about the history of the city. The museum takes you from the very beginning, right up to modern day Slovenia. There are interactive exhibits for kids (and adults!) and a great shop and cafe at the end.

Believe the good reviews! This is one of the best museums I’ve ever been to, we wanted to get a good background on Ljubljana’s history before spending more time in the city and this really set the stage even better than we expected. From Palaeolithic to the Hugo’s lab war and even contemporary celebrities, we understood where we were standing even more. And it was incredibly interactive for all ages, you can touch, smell, play and listen (lots of items have accompanying narration that you can listen to with headphones) which also makes it really accessible too. Overall SUPER fun, we spent almost 4 hours here, definitely worth it. Not to mention the temporary exhibit, it was also really lovely and well put together. I have nothing bad to say except for it being a bit poorly ventilated, so maybe avoid on a very warm day.

Currently, there is a temporary exhibition about the clothing of Ljubljana residents between 1850 and 1950. The permanent exhibitions include sections from pre-history to present day, and in the basement, excavations from Roman times and earlier. All the panels are in both English and Slovenian. Nicely laid out rooms. I spent 1.5 hours, but you could easily spend more.

Nice small and informative museum about history of the city. Has the worlds oldest wheel found yet to date. Exhibitions both upstairs on the city and the old ruins below which is interesting. Free with Ljubljana card

I have recently visited an art museum which explores me to see the amazing ancient history of Slovenia , culture and experience the deep imagination of a painter which blows my mind. When I see each picture and statue it has its own stories to tell. ☺

Totally in love with the museum.
Temporary and permanent exhibitions are amazing. Plus guided tours. Plus kids-friendly (as all the museums and galleries in Slovenia).
Absolutely a must for the visit
