A must see museum in Ljubljana in order to understand the man behind one of it's most famous buildings. Plečnik's house is a fantastic gem, be sure to book the tour of the house (there's one every 30min in summer time).

At the risk of showing my age, I would have to concur that Jože Plečnik was, indeed, that dude. This is not a review of Ljubljana (would be a ridiculous endeavor) but considering that Plečnik's touch is everywhere, I think it's safe to say that not only was this museum (and staff) totally inspiring, but also in step with the simple beauty of the city.

English-speaking guide, Primoš, gave our small group an interesting and thorough tour of the historic house, explaining the life, personality and accomplishments of this famous Slovenian architect and designer. You can spend time afterwards in the garden and museum (signage in English and Slovenian). Bring a EUR 1 coin (refundable) for a locker, as backpacks need to be stored.

Visited the house to learn about the architect. The exhibition in some rooms are actually free and you have to book a guided tour to visit his actual rooms, which wasn’t well advitised on the website so I didn’t get to go. Also this sight is far from other sites so not really worth it.

Das Häuschen und der Garten sehen nett aus. Leider kann man die Räume nicht ohne Führung besichtigen, sondern nur die Ausstellung mit den Informatinen. Ist für Insider sicher interessant, aber uns hätte mehr das Wohnambiente des berühmten Architekten interessiert und weniger Jahreszahlen und Pläne. Da das Haus etwas abseits des Zentrums liegt kann man sich den Besuch gut sparen.

We went in without knowing much about Plečnik but we were lucky enough to arrive just 10 minutes before the walking tour through the house began. We enrolled into it. Our guide was Eva and she was amazingly knowledgeable, she answered even really niche questions quite easily, she made us understand Plečnik as a character. Also the museum itself is really well treated with great models from unrealised projects.
