you havent been to zurich if you havent been on the "poly". just take the "polybähndli" from central place up to the highly reputable ETH Zurich and enjoy a unique view over zurich city and the lake or have a coffee or pizza-to-go on the terrasse ... (sometimes they have a bar with booze and snacks) - highly recommended

Nice view of the city from this view point. You can also visit the natural history museum which is free of charge at the same location.

This is a wonderful “hidden” (lesser-known) gem of Zurich. It offers a lovely view of the downtown area. You can easily access it by taking the small fenicular Polybahn from Central (next to the Starbucks there). Once there, you’re on the campuses of the Federal Institute of Technology and the University of Zurich, both with their beautiful central buldings there.
