Vila Castanea in Kostanjevica na Krki is truly an exceptional place for a stay, deserving more than a perfect 10. Its beauty and authenticity make you never want to leave, or at the very least, plan a return visit as soon as possible. Our group of 15 people had the pleasure of staying at the villa for four wonderful days and three nights. The warm and homely atmosphere inside the villa, with its preserved historical elements, ambient lighting, and attention to detail, make you want to stay in and never leave the premises. The breakfast served to us was absolutely delicious, and the fact that the products were homemade, from the bread to the marmalade, added to the overall charm. During our stay, my husband fell ill and had to remain in the villa alone while the rest of us had work obligations. Mr. Andrej, the owner of the villa, and the lovely Ms. Nina went above and beyond in taking care of him, offering teas and anything he needed to recover quickly. I'm especially grateful to them for their exceptional hospitality. Mr. Andrej is a rare gem in the hospitality industry – a true professional who is incredibly pleasant and approachable, always ready to cater to the guests' needs. He anticipates your requests even before you think of them. His passion for his work is evident in every aspect of the experience. Ms. Nina is equally kind and warm. The beautiful ambiance provided by the villa was complemented by the delicious red wine they offered us after a long day of work, and they didn't charge us for it. The rooms are spacious, well-heated, and impeccably clean, even for someone as particular about cleanliness as I am. We absolutely want to repeat this wonderful experience, and if we ever have the opportunity to travel nearby again, Vila Castanea will undoubtedly be our choice. This is a place where you'll find not just a beautiful stay but also exceptional hosts who go the extra mile to make your visit unforgettable.

My partner and I have been visiting Hotel for five delightful years, and it's safe to say that this place has become our second home. Each time we arrive, we are greeted with warm smiles from the lovely owners, Nina and Andrej, making us feel incredibly welcome.||The location of the hotel is truly something out of a fairytale - nestled on the enchanting river island Kostanjevica in the breathtaking Dolenjska region. Housed in an old farmhouse, the preservation and renovation of the property have created an atmosphere of luxury while retaining its authentic charm.||The rooms are a haven of comfort, offering everything one could need during their stay. We especially adore the two rooms with private balconies, providing stunning views of the surroundings. It's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the island.||Now, let me rave about the highlight of our stay - breakfast! Andrej personally curates every item, and it's evident that a lot of thought and care go into its preparation. The breakfast is not just a meal; it's an experience! Andrej's dedication to serving only the best shines through in every bite.||And that's not all; evenings at the hotel are a delightful affair thanks to Andrej and Nina. Andrej's knowledge of Slovenian wines is remarkable, and he enthusiastically introduces guests to a variety of delectable options. The homemade cold cuts are simply divine and pair perfectly with the wines.||Every time we have the opportunity to reserve a stay at this wonderful establishment, we do so without hesitation. The overall experience, the warm hospitality of the owners, and the unforgettable meals make each visit a cherished memory.||If you find yourself in the neighborhood or plan to visit Dolenjska, I cannot recommend Hotel highly enough. It's not just a place to stay; it's an immersion into the heart of Slovenia's charm and hospitality. We can't wait to return for many more years to come!

A beautiful hotel, perfect for a relaxing romantic or family getaway. The host was incredibly helpful at helping us rent a canoe and showing us the best places to see and what to do in Kostanjevica.||The room was spotless, as was the whole hotel and the breakfast was amazing.

Absolutely lovely B&B in the very centre of the little island village. Wonderful hosts, excellent rooms and cleanliness of a 5* hotel, they offer delicious generous breakfast with local homemade products. You can drink your morning coffee on a nice outside terrace garden surrounded by flowers and lavender... Definitely highly recommended!

We stayed at Hotel Castanea for a few days during the warmest time of the year, and we can fully attest that the air-condition works even under such circumstances. It was a wonderful trip, relaxing and fun. And the hotel facilities were perfect, the breakfast was locally sourced and delicious and the service was truly impeccable. Would highly recommend anyone considering a visit to the region to stay at Castanea. Thank you for providing us with such a great place to stay.

We spent 2 nights at B&B Castanea because we came to a festival of culture Kostanjevica and we just loved the place. The beautiful old villa is located in the centre of amazing island hugged by the river Krka. It offeres 9 rooms, two for families. The owners are super friendly and help you with informations and anything you need. Rooms are spacious and equipped in modern way - but still respecting and honoring the legacy of the house. Kind of solid rustical minimalism. The breakfast is rich and the food is mostly locally grown and very delicious. The owners are on top of the catering of the breakfast and all the time food is being added. So the breakfast is abundant even if you come to eat later on. We are vegetarians so we didn't eat salami, but there was enough of everything to make us happy. There is parking behind the villa and a beaufitul garden with a big chestnut tree (btw, castanea means chestnut in latin) with resting chairs to seat under and relax. We are sure you will enjoy staying in this beautiful B&B and Kostanjevica where it seems that time passes slower and that hectic rushing "outside" world is far away ...

Vila Castanea made our stay in Kostanjevuca that more magical. It is very homey, especially with the host being so friendly, welcoming, kind and caring. They helped us a lot with activities around the town. Rooms are very nice, clean and spacious. It also has a very romantic backyard, where you can also eat breakfast, which was delicious every day. |Would definitely go again.
