We hired two bicycles for 8 days in this place. 1) Material: The Bikes were old and in a really bad quality. The chains were well oiled, the circuit worked just fine. However, the pedals were almost falling in two parts, the repair kit was incompletely (the paste for the patches was missing), the brakes were worn down and the tire casings (+tube) were distroyed after 40-50 km of driving on normal streets. 2) Service: After we came back (with new tire casings) the owner blamed us to intentionally destroy his equipement and didnt want to give us our deposit back without paying for it. (Even if the bikes were in a better quality than before). We showed him the pictures of the tire casings (which showed a long term distruction and nothing that can happen in 40 km) he accused us that we intentionally distroyed the casings by overstraining the brakes. When we started to discuss with him, he told us that we dont need the money anyway. Even if you think your customer might be responsible: Its not a good way to accuse him to lie and even worse to tell him he doesnt need the deposit because he has more money... 3) Location: 2-3 km outside city centre. Conclusion: At the moment we were in Ljubljana there was no other place to get bikes for more than 24 hours. So i would (have to) hire my bikes for a long trip at this place again even after those bad experiences. My recommendations are: - Check before if there (now) is another place to hire bikes (just by the river (castle side) there is a small outdoor company which definitely has nice mountainbikes for daytrips) In Bled and Bovec they have almost new bikes for daytrips as well (they told me maximum 1 year) - Consider bringing your own bike to slovenia - if you have to go to that place: check your material really really good. You will probably have to pay for everything that is not perfect afterwards if you dont mention it before - if possible dont give him deposit. I guess its not the first time he uses it, to charge another 50 euro per bike.
