As a 'foreigner' in Ljubljana a few days before the winter tyre regulations came into force, I needed to change my tyres immediately. The larger companies were showing reservations on their websites until December. What should I do? At the suggestion of a colleague, I went to the Mar-Dam tyre shop and I am proud to say that I did not book with any of the other major companies. He speaks English but does not take bookings, you arrive, park your car, ask if there is availability and wait your turn. I arrived with two winter tyres, but it was only when I got there that I discovered they were not in a condition that complied with Slovenian law. I then asked if there were four tyres available for my model (195 55 R16) and that was it. I waited for about two hours while he changed the tyres on four cars. He also suggested if I wanted to go into the garage to get out of the cold. I didn't ask if he could store the tyres I'd taken off (I'd taken them with me), but from the pile of tyres I saw, I assume he offers that service too. Highly recommended
