When I found out about Japanese spitz, I immediately knew that is the perfect breed for me. I patiently waited until Julia contacted me, that she has a dog for me. To me, this was happiest day of my life. We named him Vinnie and he is now 6 months old.
My experience so far with Japanese spitz is mostly as I expected. He is young and playful, but very attentive. He loves to interact with me and to learn new things. Also is very quick learner. This is a type of dog that connects with you and loves being around you.
House training was super easy, he learned very quickly to hold and wait that we go outside to do his business. And from the day that we brought him home, when he is alone in the house, he is always sleeping. He has never destroyed something when he is alone. And when we sleep, he sleeps, from the first day.
We also have a cat and they get along well, he is also good with other dogs. He is very precautious and if the other animal is not interested in interaction, he backs out. He also loves children.
Having him changed my life in a very good way. Once a day we go for a longer walk and this a very quality time that we spend together, usually we do some training, playing and few times per week I brush him. His coat is not hard to maintain, since it is self cleaning. He gets really dirty sometimes, especially from puppy school, but by the time we come home, he is almost clean.
Overall this is a very patient dog, that you can make a great connection with. He also loves to cuddle and cuddling times are the best. There is some barking, but this was expected, since this is an alarm dog. He mostly barks if he hears or sees something or someone approaching the house.
I am extremely satisfied with my decision to get this breed and the amount of happiness and love that he brought into our lives is over the top. And also if you are getting a Japanese spitz, you will have to get used of people telling you what a beautiful dog you have all of the time.
Such a great dog that made me think of getting another one in near future :)

We've got our Japanese spitz one year ago and at that time it was 10 month old.
We have 2 teenagers and they've wanted the dog since they were little. When I found this breed, I knew it's perfect for our family and our active style of life.
Japanese spitz is the kind of breed that it's very flexible, kind and easy to educate. It's always in the presence of her owner, no matter what you do. If you sleep, it sleeps. If you run, it runs. If you hike, it hikes with you. When you are at work, there is no problem, because it sleeps and waits for you. It almost never barks, it's friendly to people, children and all animals. It will bark if some foreigner comes to your house.
You don't have a lot of work with it's care. We take her to dog groomer every 2-3 months. We brush her hair regularly, but it has very easy hair to care.
Flora made our life so beautiful and we can't imagine living without her anymore. We take her everywhere and getting her was the best decision ever.
