Took out policy and then went backwards and forwards with information that they needed including, DVLA information from Gov website. Never been asked to provide so much information for an insurance policy.
After 21 days we gave up and cancelled the policy to be told basically we would get half of the £635 refund. So half equates to 21 days of cover ! loss of commission, admin fee etc.
This is week 8 and I am still waiting for my refund and i've now been told the underwriters have just authorized it and it can take up 5 working days to go into my bank.
They pointed out in their Policy booklet it can take up to 6 weeks for a refund so clearly that has been broken. Furious

Excellent! Excellent!! I have been with Stavelyhead for many years now. They look after my Motorhome very well with great Insurance Quotes. When I couldn't send docs via a phone, they helped me accomplish this via other means. Very helpful and friendly customer service.
I would highly recommend them if you need a quote for car,taxi,motorhome etc

The lad I spoke to Ross, was like speaking to a monotone sulky teenager. I will never use thes again. What a change from last year.

Terrible. Avoid at all costs. Quoted £800 for conversion in progress camper van insurance. To be told once I’d signed everything I had to complete this conversion within 90 days (who on earth can do that?) so I had to cancel. In total I was insured by them for less than a month but they charged me £450. Keep in mind 12 months was only £800. No one at the company wanted to be any help at all. If this is how they treat potential customers I’d hate to think of the experience people have when they have to claim. I’d give 0 stars if it was possible.

Received renewal notice for Campervan today.. 40% increase on last year £389 to £981.
Stuck with them after a painful experience setting up the policy last year, demanding endless documents, arguing over no claims, additional charges to keep the policy live. And almost £40 to alter a private reg which is the press of a button for most insurers but not this company.
Avoid and pay a bit more elsewhere.

Poor customer service. I recently sent most of my documents via email on the 2nd of May and had emails to prove that they had been received, a copy on my no claims bonus and vehicle declaration was put in the post in the envelope Staveley Head had provided.
Today 7th of May 2024 had an email stating my insurance will be cancelled at 3pm because of missing documents.
Lunch time I contacted the Staveley Head office and got a rude female stating they haven't received nothing from me, I explained that I had received emails to confirm that Staveley Head had received my documents her reply we haven't received anything from yourself.
I rushed home to check my emails to make sure I was dreaming about having emails from Staveley Head Insurance on the 2nd May confirming they had received my documents.
At approx 2pm 7th May 2024 I contacted the office who confirmed they had got my documents and everything was in order, I asked for the females name that I dealt with this morning because I wanted to put in a complaint but of course the male would not give it. I asked to speak to a manager and of course they are to busy to take a call.
My advice is keep away from this company customer service is next to nothing and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone .

Had been a customer for several years with motorhome insurance ,had few issue with them from start but Insurance was reasonably cheap to start with so stayed with them ,this year I hadn't receive a renewal quote off them, they had trebled the insurance without sending me any renewal information etc, it wasn't until the people who took the finance on contacted me, that I saw how much they had put my insurance up by !1 day had gone passed from which the insurance had started ,so I called to cancel it and tell them they hadn't sent me any renewal information, they denied this and told me they had and it would be £140 to cancel it for one days insurance and admin etc !I then threatened them with the regulator and complained further ,after a investigation it turned out they hadn't sent any renewal quotes as there been a "clitch in the system" they reduced the payment down to £28 for the 1 days insurance which reluctantly paid. There's been no apologise from the company and I've since been able to get the same insurance for £245 they tried renewed my insurance at £800!!

5/5 from me, to start with in 2017.
Now the campervan is sold spring 2024 with no claims ever made, I cancelled the policy to zero refund even though I had 7 months left on my policy.
No refund on the breakdown cover left for the remaining 7 months too.
And to add to that we are just about to buy a brand new larger Motorhome and they won't even quote me after all of these no claim years because the motorhome is so new and not here for 5 weeks I don't have the registration yet.
They won't quote with the make and model details.
Looks like I need a new insurer

Unfortunately I can’t give zero stars Absolutely disgusting customer service. Cancelled policy and added additional charges as well as the £85 cancellation fee stating £39.50 amendment fees. I said I was not happy with the additional charge and would like to pay the cancellation fee whilst it was in dispute. The agent then threatened that he would not cancel my policy and I would receive charges from a policy on a van that I no longer own so I had no option but to pay all costs without dispute. The charges were made as they asked for no claims proof which we supplied. Then they wanted our campervan no claims which we then supplied. So they had to make an amendment and charged us £39.50

I'd leave zero stars if I could. Very nice to you until they have you in board, then the pestering for information begins, despite sending them all the details WITHIN the 28 days they still charged me for a recorded delivery letter which they claim they had to send 7 days beforehand. So, why couldn't they tell me to get the info within 21 days or just pick up the damn phone. 1st and last time I will give my business to these people.

Terrible company to deal with, after paying the premium for camper van insurance, received a letter with their terms of business asking for 7 photos of vehicle, licence validation from DVLA and copies of our driving licences, mileage declaration, no claims bonus evidence (renewal papers from previous company not acceptable) a further declaration and renewal details of the bonus earned on our main vehicle, full copy of V5 and a utility bill! Then receive a letter demanding a further £164 as they say what was sent wasn't adequate - which is rubbish. AVOID AT ALL COST COMPLETE RIP-OFF

So, as campervan insurance is a minefield I called Staveley Head Insurance to confirm that my camper conversion was within their remit. They deny the 6 minute 20 second call on 5th December! They accepted what I'd done and insured me. A month later I get a message stating they'll cancel me in the next FIVE hours if I don't provide a pile of additional info.
I sent dozens of pics, forms and printouts, even my full DVLA record and every page of my V5. Next they wanted to charge £134 to delete the tracker I listed as it wasn't on their approved list. Next they say my table and cooker has to be fitted. It's a small van and I want it removable. Basically if you read 200s of reviews they bend over backwards to cancel people's insurance and make up a whole list of duplicated fees to do so. AVOID.

AVOID THESE BLACKMAILING SCAMMERS AT ALL COSTS! My dad took out camper van insurance and paid a £147 deposit. (Insurance was £580 for the full year) he decided to cancel WITHIN the first 14 days of taking the policy out… with this we were expecting a refund as he paid such a high deposit and to have only have paid for the amount of insurance for the days he had been insured for. Was told that he wouldn’t be receiving any refund back and ACTUALLY HAD TO PAY £55.55 otherwise they would not cancel the policy… all in all less than two week insurance cost over £200 even though the full policy was only £580. How does that even make sense… the staff were rude and obnoxious and kept saying different stories as to why he was charged more. PLEASE PLEASE LOOK AT THE REVIEWS ON GOOGLE AND PELASE AVOID! Manager Chloe Gordon who I spoke too… your just as bad as all of your vile robotic employees and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Blackmailing and ripping people off. I’ve reported to the financial ombudsman and hope to got you get shut down! Scammers
