Every 1st Sunday of the month they organise a free tour in English. We were very lucky to be guided by Žiga, who was extremly knowledgeble and answered all (also probably stupid) questions.

The front desk person (young, long-hair male) is the rudest and the most unprofessional employee I have ever encountered in my life. He ignored me completely even though I was talking to him and asking to buy a ticket. When I was about to leave the museum still reeling from the initial shock, he asked me if I wanted to pay with cash or card. So he did hear me, he just plain ignored me. The museum itself is ok, worth the price and all. But please, dear management, look into finding better staff. Literally anyone could do the job better than the staff you currently have.

As the museum covers the period from World War I to Slovenia’s EU entry, 1914-2004, it’s a lot of action crammed into one floor. They have an incredible amount of material on display that can get a bit overwhelming. I skipped the period of the first Yugoslav kingdom as well as the EU entry and still spent almost two hours there. My favourite parts were the section on WWI (with reconstructed trenches), and the partisan resistance to the Nazi occupation. Very touching objects made by concentration camp prisoners. The section about Yugoslavia under/after Tito was a bit too crammed for me, with so many topics on so little space you can only touch the surface. Still, it was a good way to learn about Slovenian history. Some English texts I didn’t understand, might benefit from a professional language editing for accessibility. Definitely recommended, but I would advise to pick a few aspects to concentrate on, or you might get overwhelmed. I don’t know how other commenters could ingest all that content in one hour.

i would recommend you to visit this museum. the price of the ticket is quite cheap and they have very good exhibitions. we came for the Olympics game 1984 in Sarajevo exhibition but we saw all of them.

Ob izredni množici tankov in ostalih vozil se NITI V ENEGA NE MOREŠ povzpeti, enako velja za helikopterje in vse ostalo. Ladja je bila tudi zaprta. Večina elektronskih postaj je v okvari in ne služijo namenu, slušalke so pa polomljene in ne delujejo. To je zame sramota, lahko tudi slike gledam. Jaz sem bil izredno razočaran. Edina stvar v katero pustijo je podmornica in to je za doplačat... tipično. Kot še številni v Slo ste ostali za časom.

Il museo più bello della città. Molto dettagliato e ricco di oggetti e reperti, permette di scoprire nel dettaglio la storia della città e della Slovenia soprattutto nel 900. Assolutamente da vedere

Excellent museum explaining recent Slovenian history. Detailed explanations written in English. While the audioguides were broken when we went, they do usually have audioguides. Nonetheless, there was sufficient English text to learn so much. Well done, highly recommend.
